Scuba Diving Koh Tao without Certification

Scuba Diving Koh Tao without Certification

Scuba Diving Koh Tao without Certification is possible subject to a “Same Day Resort Course” in a pool, all your dive gear will be provided by the diving school. After the course, your dive instructor will take you on a sea dive (“Open Water Dive”) to depths of about ten meters. Luckily Koh Tao offers many amazing diving spots that are less than ten meters deep. On ten meters, you can expect “bottom time” of about 20 to 50 minutes – depending on your air consumption.

Without recent certifications or logged dive experience divers will likely be asked to complete some kind of a “Resort Scuba Diving Course”, this may be conducted through NAUI, PADI, SSI or another certifying agency. The “Resort Course” is done in a pool and takes about 4 hours. You will also be asked to sign an indemnity form waiving the scuba diving company and instructors against any insurance claims.

The PADI Open Water Diver qualification allows you to: Dive to a maximum depth of 18 metres. Obtain air fills, rent or purchase scuba equipment and participate in dive activities. Continue dive training by completing the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification and taking certain specialty diver courses.

The NAUI Open Water Course is for certified divers who desire additional training or orientation to a variety of diving sites and conditions. Divers must be a minimum of 10 years of age, in good health and must be previously certified as a NAUI Scuba Diver or equivalent.

In conclusion, there is very little difference between PADI, NAUI and SSI. As a recreational diver, the differences are so small that if you aren't completing a course, you probably won't notice. Both maintain high standards of training around the world. Both are globally acknowledged as diving qualifications.
